About Pillar

More alike
than not.

Pillar started as a conversation between the co-founders of Kanea.tv on a company retreat. Looking at the landscape of editorial magazines, they saw a gap — and an opportunity to create something that resonates with readers and collectors alike. A magazine built on captivating visuals and intentionally woven features that capture the essence of the people and communities they cover.

The vision is simple: a platform for niche stories that reveal how much more alike we are than we are different. Culture doesn't travel in straight lines. It slips through borders, through generations, through the pockets of people carrying something forward, through the stories told to younger generations under the moonlight. Pillar is here to document that movement.

The idea

Not in straight lines.
Not with permission.

Culture doesn't travel by invitation. It slips through borders in the pockets of migrants, in sampled beats, in the silhouette of a garment. Pillar documents this movement — the references, memories, and histories that invisibly shape how we create.

The method

Long-form.
Unrushed.

Every story is given the space it deserves — extensive features and editorial photography shot across multiple locations. We're interested in the foundations: the pillars that hold everything up.

Four pillars.
One conversation.

Each issue moves across all four territories — not as separate sections, but as a single, interwoven exploration of how culture travels between them.

01

Music

From gospel to grime. The rhythm that carries memory across continents.

02

Fashion

Style as archive, performance, and proof of where we come from.

03

Art & Film

Image and screen as one territory. Visual narratives that refuse to be contained.

04

Sports

Athletes as cultural icons — the body as a site of global meaning.
